Dad is in the ICU burn unit at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix. He has third degree burns over 60% of his body and a broken pelvis. The burns are the biggest concern, and were caused by his motorcycle exploding on impact. He is heavily sedated and on a respirator. They anticipate he will be in the burn unit for several months.
He underwent the first of many surgeries this morning. There were complications. Because he has been given a high amount of fluids and his blood was thin, he was given ten pints of blood. The surgery was a success and the damaged skin from his legs was removed. Monday he’ll undergo surgery for his arms and chest.
He is still in critical condition and is expected to remain critical for two months. He cannot accept cards, gifts or flowers at this time, be we will update you as soon as that changes.
