I am very saddened to hear. I’m am just now catching up with is happening with my dear friend. I have been away for awhile recovering from a heart attack I had apparently on the very day you passed. Rest in peace my dear Colin. I will continue to pray for your sons and family and friends. Rest easy in God’s loving arms.

  2. Barb Britten says:

What a brave and concentrated effort everyone made in helping Colin. He should and I am sure was profoundly proud of his sons and the fantastic updating you did for all his friends was invaluable. Colin made the grand fight and considering the great obstacles he had to overcome, the fight was a great war, indeed.

I’m so glad I ‘found’ him recently again after 40 years or so just to touch base and remember the great pal I had so long ago. From the comments of others, he hadn’t changed much and was still a great guy to have around. We never got around to chatting and catching up, but it seems his life was spent the way he wanted to spend it. I hope the prayers I sent helped him in his transition too.
    See you later, Colin!
    Barb

Hi Ian and Colin, I was so sorry to hear about your Dad passing away. Sgt. Bonney told me when I was on vacation. I may be too late, but when you decide when and where you are having a memorial or service, could you let me know? I’d like to talk with you all about some memories of your Dad and what was important to him for a short story about his life that will also let people know when and where the memorial will be.
    Take care,

There are no words that will ease the pain and sorrow that are caused by the passing of a loved one or good friend, only time and fond memories can do that. Just know that as you look at this increasing list of condolences, there are a lot of good caring people that love and respect your dad, and most of us will be more than willing to share a fond memory of your dad whenever you need it. Just know that your dad will live in heaven, and in our hearts as he did on earth.

    Colin and Ian,

May God bless you both for the wonderful son’s you have been for your Dad! He loved you both more than you will ever Know!!
God saw he was getting tried, and a cure was not to be; so he put His arms around him, and whispered, “Come with me.” With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stoped beating, hard working hands to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takesthe best!

You are in our thoughts and prayers!

Just got back from a weekend of camping with our Good Sam Camping Club. I am so very sorry, Colin and Ian for your loss. I know we do not have to tell you what a wonderful man your father was and how very much we loved him. Colin had a way of making you laugh or smile no matter what your mood was when you came into the room. He would not let you stay in a bad mood. God love him. He was truly the best. Colin made such an impact on me. . . . How I loved to hear him laugh!!!! I know he is with his Heavenly Father and he will not be in pain any longer. God will give you the strength to get through this, I know HE will. If there is anything Ron and I can do, please let us know and please keep in touch. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. Blessings to you, Ron and Nancy Nicholas

  14. Lucie says:

    I am so sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing; he put up a very long & valiant battle. I know he is so very proud of you both & that he will continue to be with you in your hearts forever, as he will be in he hearts of all the friends who’s hearts he touched in his life. He will always be there, watching over you, his precious sons. The following helped me through the loss of two who were very close to me & passed away recently;

The Angels gathered near your bed so very close to you, for they knew the pain & suffering that you were going through.
I thought about so many things, as I held tightly to your hand. Oh how I wished that you were strong & happy once again.
But your eyes were looking homeward to that place beyond the sky, where Jesus held His outstretched arms, it was time to say goodbye.
I struggled with my selfish thoughts, for I wanted you to stay. So could walk and talk again, like we did – just yesterday.
But Jesus knew the answer, and I knew He loved you so, so I gave to you life’s greatest gift, the gift of letting go.

My sincere condolences to you, your Mom, & all of Colin’s family & friends….

  22. Sandy Richmond (aka - CK) says:

    Ian, Ann, Colin & family,
I felt it an honor & a pleasure sitting beside your dad the evenings that I went during the wk when you couldn’t be there. I continued to write his name almost every day in the BIG book in the chapel at St. Joseph’s Hospital then I would head for my weekly visits with him after work. I would not have left him alone for too long until you two were able to return. My heartfelt sadness & hugs go to all of you.
I am enclosing this NATIVE AMERICAN PRAYER that I love & I think you will find comfort in these words.
I give you this one thought to keep —
I am with you still – I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone –
I am with you still – in each new dawn.

Sending my love to the MacDiarmid family. I found this poem & thought it would be meaningful to the family.
    Never Alone
I feel you in the morning
    When at first I awake
    Your thought is with me
    With each decision I make
    You’d been around forever
Since the first breath I took
Now I have to go on alone
But for love, I need not look
    Cause by what you bestowed
    In our short time together
    Will last in my heart
    Forever and ever
    Although you’ve left
    And now walk above
    I’m never alone
    I’m wrapped in your love
Enjoy now your long waited reward
Feel peace that your love continues on
What was taught to me, will be taught to mine
Cause you live on in me even after you’ve gone

I am so sorry. I know there are no words to take away your sorrow and pain. Try to find peace as your Dad has. His pain and suffering has ended and he did fight so hard…enjoy those memories of the last moments when he knew you were there…..they are indeed some of the most special on top of all the others you have. Your Dad loved you both very very much and he always will…you were the pride and joy of his life….

Make sure during all the weeks to come, that you take time for yourself to grieve. Life without a parent is quite difficult at times but there is life and they are always with you….always remember.

I wish I had some magic words. I am “e-hugging” you right now. Thinking of you every day . . .
