Update #7

Friends and family,

A quick update: Dad is scheduled for surgery #6 tomorrow (Friday morning). We met with the head surgeon this afternoon and were provided more detail on what to expect over the next many months. It was a difficult conversation; the journey Dad faces is hard to even comprehend. Please know how thankful we are that Dad has so many amazing friends keeping him close in thoughts and prayers.

Dad is heavily sedated, but we are reading your emails and posts to him with the hope that he can comprehend some of what we’re telling him. Please keep the notes coming. Also, if you would like to send cards at this time, please send them to the address below. We will read them to him until he can do so on his own.

One good piece of news, Dad is still hooked up to the ventilator, but doing almost all breathing on his own. He gets enriched oxygen and the slightest of help from the ventilator, but the respiratory therapist we spoke to this afternoon says he is doing great.

We will post an update as soon as we can after surgery. Surgery should start around noon.

Colin and Ian

Please send cards to:

PS. On Friday, 20/20 aired a story on a burn survivor treated at the Arizona Burn Center. These are the same people treating Dad, so we recommend you check it out. You can view it here: http://abcnews.go.com/2020/stephanie-nielsons-story-tragic-crash-mom-lost/story?id=13574901

    Hi Colin and Ian,

I continue to pray for your Colin, Sr., and for you two as well. I went from grade school to high school with you guys, yet I never knew how much your father contributed to Loudoun County. Everything I’ve learned about your father since his accident indicates he is an amazing person with a incredible spirit, who also has an enormous passion for the people and organizations that he loves. I know he will get through the long journey he has ahead of him. You guys are pillars of strength, and with you guys in his corner, he’ll make an amazing recovery. I pray the surgery goes as expected today. Take Care of yourselves, and God Bless you all.

    Beasy

A comment about the cards coming to the house….you’re going to need your own post office, I have a feeling.

    Hang in there, everyone.

    love to all,
    Heather and Rick

Great comment about the cards. He will need all his friends support. Colin II forgot to put unit 2 in his address. I wonder if that matters so much.

Good catch. The address has been updated.

Sorry… yesterday was a very long day!

I noticed the #2 was left off but I actually doubt it will matter after the first few kazillion cards appear, lol!

          Hope everything went well yesterday.

          God Bless,
          Heather

    Colin II, Ian and Ann.

I am so happy to hear the update on your father. I would still like you to tell Colin that I’m here for him and will always be. I pray for all of you so you can stay strong.

May Colin find comfort in the arms of the Lord and peace of mind for the journey he has to take that lies ahead. May God Bless the hands of his caregivers and anyone who comes in contact with him. Amen

    Love you Colin,
    Janet
